My voice, performances and recordings are the product of over 30 years of training and experience. This page sets out plainly how I expect that work to be treated where AI and synthetic voice technology are concerned.
I do not consent to any recording, performance, or vocal likeness of mine being used to train, build, fine-tune or generate an AI or synthetic voice model, or to create a “voice clone” or digital replica of my voice, without my prior explicit written consent and a separate licence agreed in advance.
This applies regardless of how the recording was originally supplied or licensed, and it applies to any third party a client may wish to share, sell, sub-license or transfer my recordings to.
Where I do agree to AI-related use, terms, scope, duration and payment are agreed in writing before any recording is used in that way, and I retain the right to withdraw consent if my voice is used outside those agreed terms.
Voice actors’ recordings are increasingly used to train AI models without consent. An AI rider is a now-standard way for professional voice actors to protect their vocal identity and give clients clarity on exactly what they can and can’t do with a recording – so there’s never any ambiguity on either side.
